PRO2 nabs illegal gamblers in Isabela and Cagayan
Camp Marcelo A Adduru, Tuguegarao City- Six (6) individuals involved in illegal gambling activities were arrested in separate operations in Isabela and Cagayan.
Arrested were identified as Estella Agramon, 54 yrs old, married and a resident of Brgy. Minanga; Elma Fernandez, 21 years old, single and a resident of Brgy. Sta Clara, Wilmar Seguritan, 25 yrs old, single and a resident of Brgy. Calayan; Mark Joseph Liquigan, 24 yrs old, single and a resident of Brgy. Tapel, all of Gonzaga, Cagayan, Josie Galapon, 46 years old, married, HSG, unemployed and Alfredo Esteron, 63 years old, married, both residents of Brgy Bantug, Roxas, Isabela.
Police report reveals that Agramon, Fernandez, Seguritan and Liquigan were arrested on April 7, 2017 at about 9:30 AM in Brgy. Calayan, Gonzaga, Cagayan. Confiscated from the suspects were Illegal gambling paraphernalia and One Thousand Twenty Two Pesos (Php 1, 022.00) bet money, while on April 8, 2017 Esteron and Galapon were apprehended in Brgy Bantug, Roxas, Isabela. Confiscated from them were playing cards and bet money amounting to Six Hundred Ten Pesos (Php 610.00) in different denominations.
A case for violation of RA 9287 has been filed against the suspects.
PRO2 condemns the existence of illegal gambling activities such as illegal numbers games as this has become an influential factor in an individual's disregard for the value of dignified work, perseverance and thrift since instant monetary gains from it are being equated to success, thereby becoming a widespread social menace.
