Ex- Councilor arrested for violation of special laws
Camp Marcelo A Adduru, Tuguegarao City- Police Regional Office 2 in its strict implementation of special laws has recently arrested a former Local Legislator of Sta Ana, Cagayan for violation of PD 705 and RA 10591.
Arrested suspect was identified as Jose Mari Urdas y Dela Cruz, 59 years old and a resident of Centro, Santa Ana, Cagayan.
In his report to Camp Crame, PRO2 Regional Director PCSUPT ELISEO T RASCO said that at about 11:00 PM of March 26, 2017 in Brgy Amunitan, Gonzaga, Cagayan, elements of Gonzaga Police Station led by PCI EDGAR V MANUEL, Chief of Police apprehended the suspect who tried to elude the PNP checkpoint in said place. Urdas was caught in possession, control and custody of undocumented two (2) pieces Narra Flitches 3x40x12 and 3x40x8 worth more or less two hundred thousand pesos (P200, 000) loaded in a brand new Nissan Urvan bearing plate number ALA 6629 owned and driven by the suspect. Aside from the undocumented Narra flitches, also seized from the suspect were caliber 9mm pistol (Jericho) with Serial Number 135152 with an expired license, one (1) magazine loaded with 11 live ammunition and one (1) unit NOKIA (X2) cellular phone with transaction messages showing the “modus operandi” regarding the illegal transport of Narra flitches from Sta. Ana, Cagayan to Lucena City and other places.
Suspect is now under the custody of Gonzaga Police Station together with the confiscated items for filing of appropriate charges against him.
RD RASCO commended the PNP operating team for another notable operational accomplishment. “We will strictly implement our laws without fear or favor,” He added.
